Past Litigation

Over the years, the Youth Law Center has brought dozens of lawsuits across the country aimed at improving the treatment of children in the child welfare and juvenile systems.  Many have involved conditions of confinement and inappropriate confinement in juvenile facilities, shelters, group homes or adult jails.  Others have involved access to education, special education or health care services.  Still others have involved the holding of babies or young children in inappropriate settings.  And finally, the Youth Law Center has also brought cases challenging unfair treatment of children by law enforcement or the court system.  The following is an alphabetical list of Youth Law Center cases by case name.

In addition to cases in which the Youth Law Center was counsel of record, we have done extensive work as amicus curiae in cases involving issues of important public policy.  Those cases can be accessed through the Resource Library.  Current cases may be accessed through the Action and Litigation page.
