Aguilar v. Mitchell

Aguilar v. Mitchell was a federal court action involving conditions of confinement of children in the detention center in Walla Walla. At the trial, experts in the areas of child psychiatry, adolescent medicine, institutional program planning, environmental engineering, and architecture testified concerning the harmful effects of confining children for 24 hours a day in dirty, cramped cells. After the trial, defendant local officials agreed to cease all regular confinement of children in the facility.
