Children whose parents are detained or deported are at heightened risk of entering the foster care or juvenile justice systems, and too often, advocates lack accessible, up-to-date guidance on navigating the complex intersection of immigration, child welfare, and juvenile justice. Youth Law Center’s new Immigration Resource Library is filling this critical information gap as a curated and centralized collection of high-quality educational and advocacy materials to protect children impacted by immigration enforcement and family separation.
With the recent Supreme Court decision allowing federal immigration officers to continue using racial profiling as a basis to question, arrest, and deport people en masse, these tools are especially timely as they provide immediate access to essential information to safeguard children’s rights and ensure they receive the services they need. The library will be regularly updated and shared through our California legal aid Support Center channels, including Youth Law Center’s Transition Aged Youth Civil Legal Practice Exchange.
