Jennifer Rodriguez on Kids Aging Out of Foster Care Panel

Jennifer Rodriguez participated in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation Children’s Rights Litigation Committee (CRLC)’s teleconference “From 17–21: What Lawyers, Judges, and Agencies Should Be Doing for Kids Aging out of Foster Care” that took place on March 12, 2013.  The teleconference focused on practical ideas and options for lawyers, judges, and agencies to better assist the children aging out of foster care, such as: how to ensure a successful transition from foster care to adulthood, including returning post-18 children to the foster system; foster children in the juvenile system at 18; expungement of juvenile records; and legal representation for post-18 children and model (state) laws that are in place to ensure a smooth transition.  Interest was so great for this teleconference that the maximum number of participants was raised from 300 to 750 and each of those slots was filled.  This teleconference and the accompanying materials are now posted on the CRLC website where they will stay as a free resource.  http://apps.americanbar.org/litigation/committees/childrights/materials.html.
