2013 Loren Warboys Unsung Heroes Reception

Each year the Youth Law Center honors individuals who have made a difference in the lives of children and families at the Loren Warboys Unsung Heroes Reception.  The 2013 Loren Warboys Unsung Heroes Reception is being held on December 9, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the San Francisco law offices of Bingham McCutchen.  This year’s honorees are:

  • Scott Budnick, Executive Producer of the Hangover movies who was inspired by incarcerated youth when volunteering as an instructor and mentor in juvenile hall, for his tireless efforts to empower and support formerly incarcerated youth.
  • Lily Eagle Dorman-Colby, third-year law student, former foster youth and current intensive treatment foster parent, for her advocacy and for providing youth with the parenting, love, support and encouragement to avoid congregate care and to establish a healthy foundation for the future.
  • Tung Nguyen, for his advocacy on S.B. 260, historic California legislation that gives juveniles tried in the adult system an opportunity to show maturity, growth and rehabilitation through a carefully crafted sentencing review process.
  • Mark Soler, Executive Director Center for Children’s Law and Policy and former Executive Director of YLC, for his advocacy to redress injustices in juvenile justice systems around the Country.  Mark will receive the first annual Tom Welch Award, created in memory of our friend and former Board chair, whose memory inspires us daily.
