YLC Assists Florida in Foster Home Recruitment and Retention

As part of our project to improve the recruitment and retention of Florida foster families, the Youth Law Center is conducting on-site assessments this week at three Florida community-based care lead agencies, CBC of Seminole, Hillsborough Kids, and Big Bend Community Based Care. The goal is to improve recruitment and retention of quality foster families and support the transition of children and youth out of congregate care by providing training and technical assistance on recruitment, data analysis and marketing training in partnership with marketing and human resource professionals, the Florida Department, Eckerd Family Foundation and community-based care agencies. The three selected agencies have agreed to serve as peer mentors to other Florida lead agencies in the future, who are in the process of implementing recruitment plans and who will receive ongoing training and technical assistance.
