Chantel Johnson joined the Youth Law Center in Summer 2025 as a Directing Advocate, having worked with the organization as a legislative consultant since Spring 2024. Chantel has extensive experience in navigating complex political landscapes and advocating for policies that drive positive change and has worked as an independent government affairs consultant since 2022. Previously, Chantel served as first the Manager of Government and Community Relations and then the Principal & Chief of Staff to Senior Vice President External Affairs at Blue Shield of California. Prior positions include serving as a Community Engagement Representative for Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, Senior Legislative Consultant for the California State Assembly, and the Legislative and Policy Manager for California Youth Connection (CYC).
