John Doe v. Minidoka County Amended Complaint

John Doe v. Minidoka County was a civil rights class action challenging the conditions of confinement for juveniles and the policies and practices of defendants for confining juveniles in the Minidoka and Cassia County Jails. The named plaintiff was detained for 45 days in the county jail while awaiting an adjudication hearing. He was not provided with any educational programming, never allowed out of doors, had no access to recreation and was allowed visitors only on weekends. As a result of this lawsuit, juveniles are not being held in adult jails in these two Southern Idaho counties as well as five of the neighboring counties.
