Katie Sexton is a staff attorney at the Youth Law Center. Her work focuses on preventing homelessness for system-impacted young people. She is interested in maximizing the use of - and expanding upon - entitlements to housing, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and other services so that youth can remain housed in community and thrive. Katie previously worked as the managing attorney for Advice and Counseling at Equal Rights Advocates where she counseled folks experiencing gender discrimination at home or at school. Prior to that, she spent nearly five years as a direct services attorney in the dependency system - first as an attorney for children at the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York and then as parent's counsel at East Bay Family Defenders in Alameda County.
