YLC urges California lawmakers to create a new social safety net for transition-aged foster youth

YLC sent a letter to California lawmakers this week outlining key policy recommendations necessary to meet the immediate and long-term needs of transition age youth who will be in or need to exit foster care during COVID-19 or it’s aftermath. Recommendations include areas such as placement stability, preventing homelessness, emergency housing for youth in extended foster care, provisions for expectant/parenting youth, and strengthening the extended foster care safety net. These recommendations were sent to California Senate and Assembly leadership and can be viewed here.
