On June 27, 2023, a stipulated Final Judgement approving a negotiated settlement between Sacramento County, CA and the Youth Law Center was approved by California Superior Court, Honorable Judge Shelleyanne W.L. Chang. The agreement covers all foster care placements and marks a turning point in Sacramento County, ending a practice of placing youth in unlicensed settings that has been going on for years.
